I cannot believe it has taken me eight years to make my husband a Father’s Day candy bar poster board.
Josh loves candy.
While I am often gifted chocolate, it occurred to me that I’ve never given my husband candy for Father’s Day. It’s usually just a card and a relatively practical gift, like tools.
But this year, I came across the idea of giving a candy poster for Father’s Day and knew I had to do it!
My kids were fully on board with this idea and loved helping me think of all the candy bars and treats their dad likes to eat.
Honestly, though, I think they’re mostly hoping he’s willing to share after they give him his candy poster board. (And I’m certain he will… almost. Maybe.)
This is one thoughtful and handmade Father’s Day gift the dad in your life will truly love!
Father’s Day Candy Card Message
Since I used a 20” x 30” sheet of foam board, I went wild and used a total of twenty types of candy on our poster!
You don’t have to use that many; use as many (or as few) as you like. A couple of candy bars on a small piece of foam board will still make a really unique card.
I came up with the wording after I bought all the candy.
This was for the best because I actually couldn’t find all of the candies I’d written on my list. (And I bought a few that I hadn’t thought of during planning!)
This is the candy bar poster wording I came up with:
“Dear. Mr. [Goodbar] [Sugar] Daddy,
Today’s gonna feel like Payday, because there’s no [Milky] Way we’re letting you lift a [Butter]finger.
For Father’s Day, we want you to feel like a Star[burst] because we love you to [Reese’s] Pieces.
So you should [Reese’s] Take 5 minutes to finish your work, Baby [Ruth], because this relaxing day is under a time Crunch.
Don’t try any Twix, either. There’s Zero chance you’ll get away with it.
We might act like Airheads sometimes, but we’re Smarties when it counts.
Don’t think we’re being Goobers if you hear some Snickers; we’re just so happy that our Pop Rocks!
Love and Kisses from the 3 Musketeers (Lily, Hugo, & Mommy)”
Then at the very bottom right corner, I also attached a Hershey bar with a custom wrapper that had his name on it. (Scroll down to get my free template to print your own!)

How to Assemble a Father’s Day Candy Board
Putting together a Father’s Day poster with candy is pretty easy.
Materials
- Foam board (as big as you want)
- Your chosen candies (as many as you want)
- Masking tape (any color)
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Your printed card wording
- Scissors
- Glue stick or double-sided tape
Note: If you are super confident in your handwriting skills (or just want to handwrite the card), I think black foam board is a great option. Candy bars seem to really pop against it!
If you go with black and are handwriting your card, get a silver Sharpie to write with so the text shows up well.
Build Your Message
If you printed your message, you’ll want to cut it up with scissors, separating the parts that go around the candies.
Lay the pieces on the foam board along with the candies so you can see how they fit. Rearrange them as needed to make them look nice and easy to read.
Once you’re satisfied with the arrangement, attach all of the wording before the candy bars.
I used double-sided tape, but a glue stick or wrinkle-free glue would work as well.
If you’re handwriting your message, I highly recommend doing it lightly in pencil first before going over it in Sharpie!
That way if you realize it’s going to be too small or too big, you can erase it (or flip it over) and try again.
Modify the Candy Wrappers
If you’re only using part of the candy’s name in the message, cover up the part you don’t need with some masking tape.
I used black tape, but any color is fine. If you want to go the extra mile, use tape colors that closely match the candy bar wrappers!
How do you stick candy bars to poster board?
Full-size candy bars may not hang onto foam boards well with rolled tape or regular glue.
While not a perfect solution, I think hot glue is the best option for this.
It holds really well, and it’s relatively easy to pop the candy back off of the glue.
Any chocolate candies you’re using may melt a bit at the point of contact with hot glue, but the glue cools quickly, and the candy will too.
It shouldn’t ruin any of the treats. Just use a thin line of glue or small dots per treat – no big blobs.
The glue doesn’t need to be super hot, either. If you have a dual-temperature glue gun, put it on the lower setting.
If you weren’t able to get foam board and are using regular poster paper (or even copy paper), don’t even try to attach the candy bars to it.
Just glue or write your message on, lay it on the kitchen table, and set the candies in their appropriate spots!
Dad will be able to read it just fine… and he won’t have to unglue his treats to enjoy them.

Personalize Your Father’s Day Candy Bar Card
There’s just one thing none of these Father’s Day candy ideas have: the actual name of the dad in your life! (Well, unless his name is Mike… or Ike.)
Of course, that’s not at all necessary to make a great candy bar Father’s Day card.
But if you’d like to have personalized candy bar wrappers for Father’s Day, I have a super easy solution!
Below you can request my free printable Father’s Day candy bar wrapper template. It’s designed to fully wrap around and cover a regular-sized Hershey’s chocolate bar.
After all, it’s hard to slip “Hershey’s” smoothly into a sentence. So this custom wrapper gives you an opportunity to use one anyway.
I hope this easy Father’s Day candy poster has inspired you to make one tailored to your husband, dad, grandpa, son, brother, or anyone else in your life that’s a fantastic dad.
