Depending on your guy’s personality, a Valentine’s Day pregnancy announcement to your husband could be the best V-day gift he ever gets.
If you’ve just found out you’re pregnant, you’re probably DYING to tell your husband! But the occasion should be absolutely perfect.
He won’t see it coming, because if he notices anything unusual, he’ll just think it’s part of a Valentine’s Day surprise!
Whether it’s your first, second, or third baby (or more!), he’ll always remember the day you told him you were pregnant.
But that doesn’t mean you can’t have some fun with a Valentine’s pregnancy announcement!
It’s the perfect holiday to tell your husband before anyone else because it’s an intimate holiday meant for just the two of you.
Whether you’re looking for something hilariously funny, a creative DIY project, or a really awesome gift to surprise your husband with on Valentine’s Day to reveal he’s going to be a dad, I’ve got LOTS of ideas for you below!

Funny & Hilarious Pregnancy Announcements
If you’re looking for a funny pregnancy announcement to your husband, look no further! Even if he’s not laughing, YOU will be! LOL
A Box of Chocolates… with a Few Missing
If your husband has a sweet tooth, a box of chocolates is the perfect prop for a Valentine’s Day pregnancy reveal.
He’ll be stoked until he realizes the plastic has already been removed from the box… And a few of the candies are missing!
Just be sure to write a note on the inside of the top of the box: “Sorry I ate some, but the baby made me do it!”
Congratulations!
Snag a “congrats” balloon from your local dollar store, and hand it to him along with a greeting card (you can get one here!).
This particular greeting isn’t normally given on Valentine’s Day, so it should definitely pique his curiosity before he gets to read the card!
Singing Telegram Pregnancy Announcement
Yes, singing telegrams still exist – and they’re still incredibly embarrassing when delivered to the workplace.
But when your telegram song is “Haven’t Met You Yet” by Michael Buble, your disbelieving hubby might need some help from his coworkers to confirm the message!
Let the Dog Tell Him
For a low-key Valentine’s Day evening watching TV at home, this will be a super-casual surprise for your husband!
If your pupper likes to run and greet Daddy first when he walks in the door or loves to lie in his lap watching TV, just swap your dog’s collar before your husband gets home.
You can get a “big sister” or “big brother” scarf here.
If he doesn’t notice right away, you’ll be the one cracking up while he’s wrestling with your pooch!
Hiding in Plain Sight
Where’s the one place your husband is most likely to look after he gets home? The fridge, of course!
Check out the video above of a desperately thirsty man completely overlooking the positive pregnancy test inside of a baby bottle.
He’ll remember it every time he opens the fridge. For the rest of his life.
When It’s Not Your First Baby
- Hardcover Book
- Lucy Tapper (Author)
- English (Publication Language)
- 32 Pages – 02/20/2017 (Publication Date) – FROM YOU TO ME (Publisher)
If you’ll be spending Valentine’s Day with your first child, go for the subtle reveal and give your kiddo a book about becoming a sibling, like You’re the Biggest by Steve Wilson & Lucy Tapper.
If your firstborn can already read, you’ll have to spill the beans and swear to secrecy until Daddy notices them reading it in the family room!
If they can’t read yet, you can just let them play around with the book to see if your husband notices – or hand it to him to read at bedtime!
Designate the Nursery
If you’ve already got a spare bedroom in the house that you’re planning on using for the baby’s nursery, now’s the time to claim it!
This is especially hilarious if it’s currently your husband’s hobby room.
Collect as many sheets as you can and cover all the furniture in the room with them. Get a bassinet, bouncer, or pack-and-play (whatever you can get your hands on) and place it conspicuously in the middle of the room.
After closing the door, mark it off with caution tape and put up an “Under Construction” sign like this one.
When your husband gets home, he’ll be barging into his big surprise in no time!
Creative DIY Pregnancy Announcements
There are TONS of cute and creative ways to announce a pregnancy to your husband.
Whether you’re on a budget or just want to give it a personal touch, I’ve got a ton of DIY pregnancy reveal ideas to your husband.
Get Help with the Phrasing
Take a page from Natalie Baeten’s book and craft a cute message using conversation hearts.
A little super glue to the back of each heart ought to do it!
For Women with Incredible Patience
Where I live, it can take weeks to get an appointment for an ultrasound to date your pregnancy after you get a positive test.
So if you’ve managed to wait until AFTER that appointment to announce your pregnancy to your husband, you are a beast. I couldn’t even wait until the pee dried on the stick.
So if you’ve got the sonogram, you might as well use it! Turn it into a cute greeting card of its own for a positively irrefutable proclamation of your baby-to-be.
Homemade Gift Box
Bonus points if you use a shoebox intended for your husband’s favorite pair of sneakers in this reveal!
Get a pair of baby shoes (just like Daddy’s, if you can find them) to put in the box, and hold them in place with some double-sided tape. You can fill the box with tissue paper or other baby items.
On the lid, write your announcement and tape the positive pregnancy test to it as well. Super-creative and extremely adorable!
Casually Scroll Through Your Photos
Get your other kid involved in telling Dad there’s another one on the way.
Put them in a t-shirt or have them hold a sign that says “I’m going to be a big brother/sister” and take a picture of it with your phone. Before posting it to Facebook or Instagram, make sure your husband finds out first!
Sit down on the couch with him and casually scroll through some photos (including the big reveal) under the premise of wanting to show him a screenshot.
If he’s paying attention, he’ll be asking you to “GO BACK!”
Draw it in the Sand
If you’re lucky enough to live somewhere that Valentine’s Day can be spent on the beach, this is a simple but awesome pregnancy reveal idea!
Take your honey out to the water, then leave him treading water while you write a message in the sand.
Surprise Him at Sexy Time
If you’re really hoping to make his eyes pop out of his head, this is the way to go!
Let’s be real – most people are expecting (or at least hoping for) some sexy time on Valentine’s Day. In preparation for your clothes coming off, paint your pregnancy announcement on your stomach with some quality body paint and wait for him to start exploring!
If the news doesn’t kill the mood, but the message is too distracting, just wipe it off with a wet cloth and get busy.
Cook for Him
This is a classic that never gets old!
Put the message on a homemade pizza, using pepperoni (or black olives, or whatever his favorite topping is) to spell it out for him.
After a Long Day of Work
Since Valentine’s Day 2023 is on a Tuesday, there’s a fair chance your husband will be working that day.
If he’s too tired to go out and wants to come straight home, kick his weekend off with an announcement he won’t forget. Make a sign to hang on the front door!
Valentine’s Day Gifts for Him Announcing Pregnancy
If you’re not the creative type, the best Valentine’s Day pregnancy announcement for your husband may just be his gift.
From custom items to cupcakes and other treats, I’ve put together some really unique pregnancy announcement gift ideas below.
The Classic Onesie
Sure, the onesie has been done a billion times – but that doesn’t make it any less effective. There’s just something about holding that tiny piece of clothing in your hands that brings a flood of emotions to an expecting dad, and it happens all over again when he sees his baby wearing it for the first time.
Cookie Conversation
If you’ve got a local bakery or sweets shop that does custom creations, they will be thrilled to help you announce your pregnancy!
You can get a series of one-letter cookies that spell out “I AM PREGNANT,” or go for a slightly more subtle reveal by having the cookies iced with words like “baby,” “mommy,” and “daddy.”
Crack a (Real) Fancy Egg
These Etsy eggs are absolutely amazing. In fact, they are so well done that a lot of people don’t want to crack them open – so they offer a keepsake duplicate!
They empty a real egg, put your special message inside, reseal it and paint it to be a beautiful, delicate surprise gift.
A Sweet Box of Chocolates
Unlike the idea above where you just crack open a box of chocolates and eat some for yourself, these customized candies are all meant for your husband – because each one spells out exactly what’s to come.
Help Him Have a Sympathy Pregnancy
My husband is a great lover of donuts, but to my chagrin, he has the metabolism of a 10-year-old and never gains weight.
Still, if I gave him a box of donuts with “Eat up Daddy, Mommy can’t be the only one with a belly!” written inside the lid, he’d try his best to keep up.
He’ll Be Puzzled by This Gift
Put your husband’s brain to work with this custom puzzle gift from Etsy. If he immediately takes it back apart, you guys might need to have a long conversation…
Serve Some Hot Soup on a Cold Valentine’s Day
Here in Kentucky, February is usually a pretty cold month.
Cook him up a pot of his favorite soup and stick this special spoon inside. It shouldn’t take him long to give it a second look!
Announce Your Pregnancy with a Book
- Pfeiffer, John (Author)
- English (Publication Language)
- 224 Pages – 04/18/2011 (Publication Date) – Adams Media (Publisher)
Even if your husband isn’t much of a reader, he’s bound to be excited when he sees the cover of this one!
(And maybe a little bit scared… but if he actually reads the book, it should help ease his fears.)
Give a Tasty, Shareable Treat
The beauty of giving cupcakes as a gift is that he’s definitely going to need your help to eat them all!
Fill a box with frosted cupcakes that make the message loud and clear.
Pour Him a Cup of Coffee in a New Mug
Say “Happy Valentine’s Day!” as you hand him a nice, hot cup of his favorite roast in a brand-new mug – and wait patiently for him to get to the bottom.
Serve Him on a Special Plate
On Valentine’s Day, restaurants are always PACKED.
Skip the crowds and offer to fix your hubby a home-cooked meal instead – and serve it on this custom dinner plate.
If it looks a lot different from your usual dishes, he might be suspicious, but he still has to finish his meal to get to the reveal!
Go Old School with Conversation Hearts
Do they taste good? No. Are they nice and chewy? Never. But they’ve always come in handy for telling our crush how we feel about them, and now they can tell your husband you’re pregnant!
If you can’t find a heart that says “I’m pregnant,” no worries – just use a food-safe marker to spell it out on the back of a bunch of hearts in the same color, and put them on top of the candy bowl. He can’t miss it!
Greeting Cards
A greeting card isn’t out of the ordinary to hand your husband on Valentine’s Day, so the message in size will be an extra-big surprise!
The Sweet, Loving Surprise
If you’re going for something cutesy, try this classic “roses are red” poem card! It just might bring a tear to his eye.
Remind Him How Sexy Dads Can Be
For the couple that enjoys inappropriate humor, give him this DILF card – it’ll get the intended message across while reassuring him your sex life is not about to die.
Love is a Mathematic Equation
Nerdy + cute = this simple little greeting card your husband will love.
Valentine’s Pregnancy Announcement Shirts
A Valentine’s pregnancy shirt is a great way to announce a pregnancy to your husband.
And if you live somewhere where February is cold, you can have your coat on over the shirt until you get to your Valentine’s Day date destination and watch him flip out in public!
Coming Soon
If you’re going out to a movie on Valentine’s Day, throw on this “Coming Soon” shirt from Etsy. Your husband won’t even be paying attention to the feature film!
Let Him Know it’s Not a Food Baby
If the words aren’t a big enough clue, the baby footprints in a heart right over your lower stomach should clue him in on this shirt that comes in several colors!
By the Way, I’m Pregnant
As long as he reads the fine print, the message on this shirt is pretty blunt.
Printable Valentine’s Day Pregnancy Announcements
Looking to toe the line between a DIY and a done-for-you Valentine’s Day pregnancy announcement? Try a printable product you can assemble at home!
Tell His Fortune with Yours
First of all, if you and your husband are ordering Chinese takeout on Valentine’s Day, you are my kind of person. But this is also the perfect opportunity to fudge your fortune and reveal your pregnancy to him!
Print and cut out these fake fortunes on regular copy paper to match the slips that come in the cookies.
If you can’t get the original fortune out and your local restaurant can’t give you empty cookies, that’s okay! You can always just break open your cookie and quickly replace the included fortune with your very straightforward one that he’ll snatch out of your hands after you read it!
Send Him on a Scavenger Hunt
Who doesn’t love a good mystery? Whether it’s around town or just around the house, send him on a hunt that leads him to the positive pregnancy test!
For the Big Brother- or Sister-to-Be
Fill in your due date on this “Only Child Expiring” sign from Etsy, print and frame it, then get a hilarious photo of your older child with it (during a tantrum for added effect).
Have THAT photo printed through Mpix (my fave printer) and put it in the same frame for your husband!
Have a Drink to Celebrate!
If your husband likes to crack open a cold one at the end of the night, stock the fridge with his favorite beer – but put these labels on first!
He’ll be so surprised, he might have to drink another one…
And no, it won’t hurt the baby if you have one beer too. Seriously.
