Setting up a new leprechaun trap the night before St. Patrick’s Day is so much fun!
But the best way to make sure the troublemaker knows where to go is with some leprechaun trap signs.
I’ve designed lots of printable signs to make this easy!
Whether your leprechaun trap is a Rainbow Motel, a place where lucky charms are buried, or just a promise of free gold, you’ll find the right signs to suit your needs.

How to Use Leprechaun Trap Signs
Each of my signs can be used in one of two ways:
- Printed on cardstock or copy paper and trimmed by hand, or
- Uploaded to Design Space (or any cutting software) and used with Print-Then-Cut
Even if you don’t have a cutting machine (like a Cricut or Silhouette), each of these signs is still 100% usable.
If the shape of the image is too complicated for scissors, it has a border that’s easier to cut around.
Just print out the PDF (I recommend white cardstock) and trim!
If you do have a cutting machine, simply upload the transparent PNG files as Print-Then-Cut images, resize them to whatever you’d like, and let your machine do all the work.
Then you can tape or glue the sign directly to your leprechaun trap.
Or you can attach it to a popsicle stick and attach that to the trap to give it some elevation.
Leprechaun Trap Sign Ideas
Feel free to steal these ideas to draw your own DIY leprechaun trap sign.
But in my opinion, it still counts as DIY if you print out a cool design, cut it out, and attach it to your leprechaun trap!
Each of these designs comes with both a PDF and PNG version. The PDF includes three different sizes to meet any need.
Rainbow Motel
Convince the leprechaun that your trap is a cozy spot to catch some sleep!
This adorable motel sign has glowing rainbow letters befitting its name and an arrow to point right where Lucky needs to go.
Free Gold
Nothing is more enticing to a leprechaun than the promise of free gold.
The trap can easily be hidden under a pile of gold coins so that your promise doesn’t seem empty!
This free gold sign for your leprechaun trap is a pot of gold surrounded by shamrocks.
Lucky Charms Over Here
Reminiscent of the most Irish of cereal brands, this sign features all the traditional marshmallow charms.
It includes a rainbow, heart, horseshoe, blue moon, leprechaun hat with a four-leaf clover, unicorn, balloon, and star.
It’s sure to catch a leprechaun’s attention!
Leprechauns This Way
Let there be no doubt about who should be going where.
Point that tricky leprechaun exactly where you want him to go!
This big green arrow underscores “LEPRECHAUNS” with a rainbow line and has some four-leaf clovers for good measure.
I used this one on the leprechaun trap we made from a shoebox!
Follow the Rainbow
A great leprechaun trap sign convinces the leprechaun he’s following the rainbow to his pot of gold.
This hovering cloud is attached to a rainbow road that can go all the way down to your trap!
It would work really well next to this LEGO leprechaun trap design.
Free Shoes Here!
Did you know that leprechauns are master cobblers? Of shoes, that is.
Legend has it they dance so much at night, they frequently wear out their shoes.
The promise of some free shoes to save them a day’s work just might be enough to lure them into your trap.
