When your baby is conceived around the end of the summer, Thanksgiving is one of the perfect days to make a pregnancy announcement! A new member of the family is something everyone will feel thankful for.
If your family tends to gather in a large group for Thanksgiving dinner, you’ll be able to make your big pregnancy reveal to so many people at once. And even if – or maybe especially if – your family has to be scattered around on Thanksgiving, miles apart from each other, there are still plenty of ways to share a memorable baby announcement with them.
These are my favorite ideas for Thanksgiving pregnancy announcements, and I’m confident at least one of these would work for every soon-to-be parent out there!

Let Your Clothes Do the Talking
The easiest way to make a Thanksgiving pregnancy announcement is without saying a word! Just wear a special top and wait for the family to read it. The shirts below will be great to wear all season, too.
Growing a Little Pumpkin
This sweatshirt comes in 15 colors and sizes from extra-small all the way to 3XL. If the “Growing a Little Pumpkin” text isn’t clear enough at first glance, the little pumpkin with baby footprints over your belly will surely get the hint across.
Partner Up Your Pregnancy Announcement
If you and your partner will be attending Thanksgiving dinner together, wear these coordinating sweatshirts! The pun is adorable and the theme fits very well with the best Thanksgiving side of all time. (Don’t agree? You should try my sweet potato casserole – you’ll feel differently afterward!)
These sweatshirts come in sizes from small to 5XL (amazing!), but keep in mind the price on the listing is per sweatshirt and you’ll need to add two of them to your cart separately with different phrases.
Give the Firstborn a Big Responsibility
For those of you who are announcing a second baby at Thanksgiving, why not let your oldest wear a special shirt instead of you? They’ll be SO excited to help spread the news (even if they can’t read yet)! Send them into your family home and wait for the grandparents to swoop in for the hugs and notice the message across little one’s chest.
You can get this shirt in 11 different sleeve-and-body color combos in infant sizes all the way to a youth large. “Big Bro” is shown in the image above, but you can order it as “Big Sis” too.
Post the News on Social Media
Editable social media announcements are one of the fastest-growing methods of sharing baby news, and I’ve made a couple of really nice Thanksgiving pregnancy announcements for you to use!
Cutesy Thanksgiving Theme
This festive digital announcement is a fully editable template! It features a mini chalkboard, felt turkey, and sonogram, but all of it can be moved, changed, or deleted. Your announcement could be ready in just a few minutes with the help of this design!
Modern Fall Pregnancy Announcement
Not specific to Thanksgiving day, but still with a cozy fall vibe, this pregnancy announcement template focuses on your sonogram. A simple drag-and-drop will have your IRL photo featured, and it’s easy to edit the text to your name and due date.
Mail an Announcement (IRL or Virtually)
When families are spread out around the country (or world), it’s not always possible to get everyone together under one roof for Thanksgiving. That doesn’t mean you can’t make a special holiday announcement! Mail cards or send trendy video reveals to those you can’t tell in person.
We’ve Got More Than Turkey in the Oven
Creating your own custom greeting card has never been easier. Edit this stunningly simple template to include your names and due date and upload a personal photo. After you download both pages, you can send them off to a printing service and get as many greeting cards as you need!
Light Up Their Phones
A lot of things are possible with technology now – including jaw-dropping pregnancy announcements from oceans away! When you order this video announcement, all you have to do is provide your sonogram, last name, and due date. The rest is done for you! There’s a sample video you can view here.
You’ll get an MP4 video file to share with friends and family. Upload it to Instagram, YouTube, or add it to your Google Drive and send a mass email with the link to watch!
Hosting Thanksgiving? Put Hints on Display
As the host of Thanksgiving dinner, there are LOTS of ways you can get creative with your pregnancy announcement! From subtle decor to sneaky food choices, you might be amused by how long it takes everyone to notice.
Customize Your Pumpkin Decor
This beautiful pumpkin comes in two sizes and can include any text you want – it’s fully customizable! The text is hand-lettered in black, gold, silver, or copper for a truly unique pregnancy announcement. Set it just outside the front door or by your fireplace as you wait for your dinner guests to arrive.
The Real Big Sibling Can Tell Them
This may be your first baby, but we all know your pet is going to be the best big sibling ever! Put this adorable embroidered dog scarf around their neck and have them hunt for pets from family members as they come in. Even after the announcement is made, this fall-colored scarf can be worn all season. Comes in sizes XS to XL.
Say it with Sides
While many Thanksgiving dinners are potluck-style, the host often makes multiple side dishes of their own. Why not mix up your usual recipes in favor of some baby-themed foods? Baby carrots, baby broccoli, baby corn, even baby back ribs…
Since these are not likely to be dishes you traditionally serve at Thanksgiving each year, your guests may do a double-take and begin to wonder why you did!
Have a Special Photoshoot
Fall is my favorite time of year for family photos, so why not make your pregnancy announcement with a special snap from your photoshoot? Even if you don’t have a baby bump yet, you can cradle your belly to get the idea across.
A photoshoot doesn’t even have to be with an expensive professional photographer. If you’re on a budget, take your phone and a tripod to a local park and find a backdrop full of gorgeous fall leaves. Set a timer on your phone and grab some candid photos!
How you use the photo for your Thanksgiving pregnancy announcement is up to you. Share it on social media! If you’re hosting, blow up a print to hang on the wall. Or create custom greeting cards to send to family you can’t be with this year.
Add a Fun Prop to Your Photos
Take a special item or two with you to use in your photoshoot for the announcement! Whether it’s just your sonogram, a pair of baby boots, or a letter board with your due date, extra props help clarify that your belly isn’t just full of Thanksgiving turkey.
I particularly love the idea of holding up one of the baby onesies above in your shoot. You can buy one in the size you expect your new baby to be in on Thanksgiving of next year, then do another photo session with them wearing it a year from now!
Visiting Family? Bring a Surprise Gift
If you’re not hosting Thanksgiving dinner but you’ll still be spending it with family, small gifts are a great way to make your pregnancy announcement.
A Bottle of Wine with a Custom Label
As a frequent host myself, I know I always appreciate a bottle of wine! This sunflower-filled custom wine label is easy to edit and print on 4×5 label stickers at home. Just put it on any real bottle of wine you prefer and surprise your family with it when you arrive for Thanksgiving.
This YouTube video shows a great way to easily remove existing wine labels before placing your custom label on the bottle.
A Sentimental Keepsake
These little Thanksgiving booties are definitely going to make a lasting memory for your parents, siblings, or any other friends or family members that you’re closest to. You can get the box without the booties to fill with your own knit or store bought shoes, or have them wrapped up with the turkey toe covers ready to go!

Give Old Traditions a New Twist
Lots of families have unique traditions on Thanksgiving. Get creative and find a way to sneak your pregnancy reveal into the activities everyone is already used to! Here are a couple of ideas to get you started.
Fortune Cookies with a Twist
There are a LOT of families who don’t cook at all on Thanksgiving – and there is nothing wrong with that. If your family prefers to go out for (or order in) Chinese to relax this holiday, passing out these custom fortune cookies is a clever way to sneak in your pregnancy announcement!
Even if your family does cook a traditional meal, you can hand these out as a fun new dessert idea. Just wait for them to crack open and for chaos to ensue!
Extra-Exciting Scratchers
Some families love to play the lottery together on special occasions and days like Thanksgiving. It’s a simple way to have a moment of exciting fun on an otherwise tame holiday. This year, give everyone these special scratch cards with a surprise hidden message! Everyone will feel like they’ve won the jackpot this time.
