A Father’s Day word search is a fun way to get kids thinking about the upcoming June holiday.
They’re also great for developing reading and vocabulary skills in any grade – even for little ones learning to read in kindergarten!
Even beyond that, word searches are a way to practice scanning, decoding, and word recognition.
You can hand out a word search for Father’s Day in a classroom, at home, or even in Sunday school.
And I’m giving away one of my Father’s Day word searches for free this year!
Father’s Day Words
It’s easy to come up with words for a Father’s Day word search.
My free “Happy Father’s Day!” puzzle includes these terms:
- card
- celebrate
- children
- dad
- family
- father
- forever
- friend
- gift
- holiday
- hug
- June
- parent
- picnic
- special
- summer
I used a fairly large print in the PDF to make the letters easy to read. This word search is considered a medium-difficulty puzzle for young children.
The words are hidden vertically, horizontally, and diagonally (but none of them are backward). An answer key is included!
I have other Father’s Day-themed word searches in easy, medium, and hard difficulty with various themes: Things Dad Likes, My Dad Is…, and Father’s Day Gifts.
You can get all of them bundled in my shop!
