With their latest ship, Disney Cruise Line decided to target a new audience that previously hasn’t had much incentive to go out to sea.
The Disney Wish Star Wars bar (officially named Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge) is not just a smart ploy to get the die-hard fan base interested in the new ship (because that faction is large).
It’s also really well done – making it even harder for Star Wars fans to ignore.
Hyperspace Lounge was the first bar my family and I checked out after we boarded the ship, and we went back after hours that very same day for another look.
Here, I’ve got the answers to all of your questions about the new Star Wars sea experience, as well as a review of our multiple visits there!
Which Disney cruise has the Star Wars bar?
The Hyperspace Lounge is on Disney’s newest ship, the Disney Wish, which currently offers 3- and 4-night cruises out of Port Canaveral.
Just like every other Disney cruise ship, there are several Disney Wish bars, with others including The Bayou, Nightingale’s, and The Rose.
You may be wondering if there are other Star Wars-themed bars on other Disney cruise ships, and sadly, the answer is no.
While we never know what the future holds, as ships frequently dry-dock for upgrades, overhauls, and reimagined spaces, Disney has not announced plans to put additional Star Wars lounges into the older ships.
Hyperspace Lounge Reservations
Wondering how to get Disney Wish Star Wars bar reservations? No need.
After an initial outburst of interest and curiosity that required reservations to enter the lounge through the DCL Navigator app, Disney has done away with reservation requirements for Hyperspace Lounge.
Is that a good thing… or a bad thing?
In my opinion, 100% good. Our cruise on the Wish never required reservations to enter Hyperspace Lounge, and even during the initial hours after boarding, it was never so crowded you couldn’t grab a seat.
Of course, this could vary from cruise to cruise, but considering there were a lot of empty seats during the adults-only evening hours, I don’t think you’ll have trouble enjoying the space.
Hyperspace Lounge Hours
When the Disney Wish first set sail, the Hyperspace Lounge didn’t officially open until 5PM. This is a huge part of why it seemed difficult to get into, and why they quickly implemented a reservation system.
Thankfully, since then, they’ve switched tactics.
While the hours can vary from day to day and cruise to cruise based on many factors, the Star Wars-themed bar is now generally open daily from 12PM to 12:30AM.
These extended hours have cut down on the crowds significantly.
Guests who want to pop by just for a look around can now do so after lunch or just before their evening meal, leaving the later hours to those hoping to enjoy a drink and a longer visit.
We boarded the Disney Wish at 12:20PM and made our way to Hyperspace Lounge before it was even 1:00PM. While there were already a lot of people inside, we were still able to find a table for the four of us!
Location of the Star Wars Bar on Disney Wish
So where is the Hyperspace Lounge on the Disney Wish?
For that matter… how do you get into it?
While this bar is not a far trek from the Grand Hall (the “hub” of the Wish), if you’re not careful, you might walk right past it!
Hyperspace Lounge is, thankfully for eager fans, on deck 3 of the ship, which is the same deck you embark on.
To go straight to the bar, walk straight ahead past the stage on your right, then take a right down the far hallway.
Walk past the Nightingale’s piano bar until you see a large golden arch on the wall. That’s where you want to go!
The golden arch leads to a very short hallway featuring the Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge sign on the right.
To your left will be another door – which may or may not be closed, depending on the flow of people through it.
If it is closed, simply push the brightly growing green button next to it for a dramatic opening (complete with a familiar “whoosh” sound)!
And while it shouldn’t need to be said, this is also the door you should exit out of.
While there is a door across from this one at the far end of the lounge, it is only intended to be used as an emergency exit – and you will absolutely set off an alarm if you choose to use it. (We weren’t the ones that learned this the hard way, fortunately!)
Are kids allowed in Hyperspace Lounge?
Good news for the padawan in your life: kids are 100% welcome in the Star Wars bar each day until 9PM.
There are many zero-proof cocktails (mocktails) available for children to enjoy during their time in the lounge, too!
Our kids each sipped on a Temple Twist that vaguely resembled Yoda (or perhaps little Grogu?) while my husband and I enjoyed alcoholic beverages.
Is there a dress code for Hyperspace Lounge?
Cruise casual is as formal as you need to be to go in the Star Wars bar. As long as you’re not trying to enter in a bikini top or swim shorts, no one is going to turn you away.
That being said, when we wore our jeans and t-shirts into the lounge, something about the vibe made me wish (pun intended) we were wearing something a little nicer.
So while it’s not required, feel free to throw on a polo or a skirt before heading down for a nightcap. You’ll find most adults dressed up a bit more in all of the Disney Wish lounges after hours.
Inside the Hyperspace Lounge
When we entered the still-mysterious Star Wars bar for the first time, I was struck by two things: how dark it is, and how small it is.
The low lighting is very much purposeful and certainly adds to the atmosphere. It allows the extra-large “window” along the wall behind the bar to be the visual centerpiece. Your eye will also be drawn to glowing containers of curious liquids around the walls.
Tip: grabbing a seat right at the bar may be preferable to a table or booth, even for a group. These seats give you the best view of the “space” outside that LED window!
This window features hyperspace jumps through 7 different scenes every 7 minutes or so.
It’s quite convincing, complete with speed-stretched stars and hyperspeed sound effects; my kids had to be reassured we were, in fact, still on the ship, safely on Earth.
Mustafar, Tattooine, Batuu, Endor, and Coruscant can all be spotted through the window, along with over 40 different types of starships between the scenes!
The size of the lounge was likely intended to create more of an intimate feeling, as the modern finishes and metallic-and-purple color scheme could easily feel cold in a larger space.
Though it is objectively small (as are most lounges on the Disney Wish), it is also never terribly crowded, thanks to its extended hours. Just be prepared for it to be louder and more crowded during family hours (before 9PM).
And while there aren’t many props or knick-knacks to make the space look like a fan convention, I personally found this to be to the bar’s own detriment. I believe the space would feel cozier and more satisfying to experience with more Star Wars-specific touches.
That being said, the handful of objects found around the lounge is completely immersive. Even the spirits used in serving drinks are kept in special bottles!

However, we were served a small bowl of nuts and pretzels at the time our drink order was taken.
The drink menu in Hyperspace Lounge is thoroughly Star Wars-themed, as shown below!
Note that Disney Wish is strictly paper straws, so if you hate those (like me), pack some metal straws to take on board with you.

Coaxium Trio
There has been a lot of mystery surrounding this $250 menu option on the Disney Wish.
Through careful research, I discovered that the “trio” of drinks can be of your choosing: one craft beer, one sparkling wine, and one cocktail.
Even picking the most expensive choices on the menu, the value of those drinks would only come to $80, though.
So what’s with the high price tag?
Well, Hyperspace Lounge bartenders have divulged that it also comes with a “very special gift.”
Unfortunately, no one knows what that gift is… not even the bartenders. Because it’s never been in stock. (Say what?)
Seriously… as of early December, there still hasn’t been anyone who laid their eyes on this mysterious and allegedly valuable gift.
Maybe we’ll find out someday. Until then, it’s puzzling why this is still on the menu.
What is the $5000 drink on Disney Wish?
The Kaiburr Crystal drink (which interestingly uses the “ancient” spelling of the widely-known term Kyber Crystal) is the $5000 menu item in the Star Wars bar.
No, Disney is not trying to convince guests that any combination of liquors is actually worth that much. The “drink” includes so much more than that!
When the order is delivered, the guest must open the container – a camtono, used in Star Wars lore for storing valuables – by pressing a series of buttons and turning the top.
What is IN the $5000 Star Wars drink?
Inside are three shots and a cocktail, including:
- A shot of Pappy van Winkle 23 Year
- A shot of Taylor Fladgate Very Old Tawny Port – Kingsman Edition
- A shot of Watenshi Gin
- A cocktail made with Camus Cuvée 4.16 Cognac, Grande Cuvee Quintessence, and fresh juices strained over rice
While all of these liquors are some of the most expensive you’ll ever see, single shots of them are still a far cry from being valued at $5000 (which actually becomes $5900 after the automatic 18% gratuity!).
So, naturally, there are other perks to this outlandish order.
First of all, you do get to keep the four silver drink containers inside (though not the camtono itself… which is a huge letdown).
Then back in your room, you will also be surprised with several Disney Cruise Line-branded, Star Wars-themed gifts:
- backpack
- water bottle
- two lidded tumblers
- drawstring bag
- pillow
- blanket
- bottle of Skywalker Sommita Sparkling Wine
A leather photo book featuring a photo of you/your party with the camtono is included.
You’ll also find an invitation for four people to visit the vineyards of Skywalker Ranch – a property that is not open to the public! (Airfare not included, unfortunately.)
And finally, you will also receive a special escort off the ship at debarkation. While it was originally rumored that Storm Troopers would be the ones to escort you, it appears that it’s just a Hyperspace Lounge bartender instead.
Hyperspace Lounge Glass Souvenirs
If you’d like to take home a Hyperspace Lounge souvenir that doesn’t cost $5000, there are three different branded glasses available.
While they look just like the cups available at Oga’s Cantina or the Sublight Lounge on the Galactic Starcruiser, all of them have Hyperspace Lounge branding on the bottom, making them unique to the Disney Wish.
The Porg can be requested with one of the two non-alcoholic drinks and ends up being an extra $17.
The two glasses aren’t listed with any particular cocktail but can be requested with any of them for an additional $12.
How Much We Spent in Hyperspace Lounge
For us, the Star Wars bar had the most intriguing, unique cocktails out of all the bars on the Disney Wish, and we spent most of our “booze money” here.
It was also the only lounge where we ordered more than one drink.
Our total after gratuity landed at $134.52 over two visits. This included:
- The Golden One
- The Chancellor
- 2 Temple Twists
- Flight of Skywalker
- Freetown Reserve
Oddly enough, by my math, this total was about $6 less than it should’ve been. We did give a $1 cash tip for each drink, so it’s possible our final total was adjusted to account for that – though we’d intended them as additional tips for our server.
I chose not to buy a souvenir cup, as I already knew I wanted the Quantum Core sipper from the Worlds of Marvel restaurant. (Learn about the Disney Wish dining rotation to see when you’ll be able to get yours!)
Are the drinks in Hyperspace Lounge worth the money?
Overall, absolutely. Part of what you’re paying for is the presentation and theming.
Our server ended up throwing a lot of “smoke bubbles” around so our kids could pop them, and they totally loved it. Having drinks as a family in the lounge was a very memorable experience!
The Golden One was like a mango-flavored, alcoholic Starbucks drink (which is a compliment) with mango boba. My husband said he enjoyed both of his drinks as well.
We tried the Temple Twists the kids drank, and they were really good. The green boba in them (also not in the description, by the way) was a big source of entertainment as the kids tried breaking them by sucking them through their straws!
I will say, as a casual wine fan and a first-time taster of Skywalker wines, I was not particularly impressed with any of them. If I were to choose one for a full glass, it would be the Sparkling, which of course is the most expensive on the menu.
Tip: If you’re enjoying some grown-up time in the lounge but one of your kids cries to leave the Oceaneer Club (we got a message on the DCL Navigator app informing us of it), your server can pour your remaining drinks into more stable glassware to carry out of the lounge with you.
I had to double-fist my last two flavors of Skywalker wine to the kids club in rocks glasses! (I found it funny, but I was also a couple of drinks in already.)
That should be all there is to know about the Disney Wish Star Wars bar! The Hyperspace Lounge is a fun, immersive experience that makes you forget you’re even on a ship in the middle of the ocean.
