This is a visual overview of my daughter Lily’s Encanto birthday party! If you’re wondering how to do an Encanto party, my hope is that it will provide you with inspiration.
Lily was a little contradictory with her requests. She wanted an Isabela Encanto birthday party, but she also loves Mirabel and wanted her to be featured.
I did my best to oblige!
Encanto party ideas for a girl are easy to come across, but you can very easily use most of these ideas for a boy Encanto party as well.
Ideas for your Encanto-themed party can come from the movie visuals, the characters and their gifts, and the foods they eat in the Disney film!
I’ll also link to posts where you can get more details on each and every aspect of this birthday party.

Encanto Birthday Invitations
Just as I’ve done with all my kids’ other parties, I made my own Encanto birthday party invitations.
Since Lily loves both Isabela and Mirabel, we agreed on a design with lots of flowers but an image of Mirabel! I decided to include a photo of Lily, too, to show how much she’s grown.
I had my design printed through Mpix because even though I have a printer, I love their thick linen-textured invites.
My personal rule of thumb is to mail or hand out the invitations 30 days before the party.
You can get my free Encanto invitation template and feature your child’s favorite character on their invitations!
Isabela Encanto Dress
I love for the birthday kid to have something special to wear on the day of the party.
Lily said she wanted to look like Isabela, so I got her a dress inspired by her!
The dress came exactly as pictured by WonderBabe.
They also have dresses based on Mirabel, Luisa, Dolores, and Luisa – some with matching bags and accessories!
I also got her this adjustable headband with purple flowers that went beautifully with the dress. She felt like the star of the family, just like Isabela, haha.
- Hand made item
- Material:cloth
- With adjustable ribbon, suit most head
- Easy to put on, comfortable to wear and won’t hook your hair
- Beautiful for bridal, bridesmaids or flower girls in the wedding,…
Encanto Birthday Decorations
My Encanto party decor was a mix of branded party supplies, general premade items, and DIY projects.
Color Scheme
Wondering what colors to use for an Encanto party? Good news: there’s no wrong answer, as long as they’re BRIGHT!
Encanto is chock-full of bright colors, both in how the characters dress and the stylistic choices for Casita and the objects within.
I based most of my color choices on those found in the stitching of Mirabel’s dress as well as the pink and purple tones associated with Isabela.
For the streamers around the house, I alternated pink, green, yellow, purple, orange, and light blue.
You can get streamer rolls of all of these colors in one bundle here!

I get all of my balloons from Party City. For this Encanto party, I used pink, hot pink, lavender, Caribbean blue, and kiwi. But just about any set of bright colors will do!
I used lavender and blue table covers, hot pink plates, and Caribbean blue cups.
Encanto Party Supplies
Although I did a lot of DIY for the party decorations, I still got a lot of premade decorations.

The napkins were the only Encanto-themed tableware I bought, as too many printed items (plates, cups, table covers, etc.) can overwhelm the beauty of the theme! I much prefer just buying coordinating colors for most things.
I also got the jumbo Encanto-themed “Happy Birthday” banner to hang in the living room.
Just note that it’s really long, and you will need about ten feet of uninterrupted wall space to hang it!
The only other branded decor I bought were these hanging spirals because I actually thought they were really pretty. They provided a nice visual break from the streamers, too.

Encanto Party Food
You can get a lot of Encanto birthday party food ideas from Pinterest, which is where I got a lot of my inspiration.
For Lily’s party, we served the following:
- Arepas con queso
- Grapes
- More fruit with a colorful dip
- Veggies with ranch
- Animal crackers
- Marshmallows
- Rice Krispie treats
- Snickerdoodles
- Chocolate-covered pretzel rods
- Blue and pink punches
- Sweet tea and bottled water
The marshmallows, cookies, Krispie treats, and chocolate-covered pretzels would be great on an Encanto dessert table, too! I just don’t do separate dessert tables.
No Encanto party theme is complete without arepas con queso! Read all about my Encanto birthday party food ideas to see where I found the simple recipe I used to make mine.
Encanto Party Games & Activities
Coming up with Encanto birthday party game ideas was the one area I somewhat struggled with.
Normally I have several games and things for the kids to do, but I settled on just two fairly traditional Encanto party activities this time.
While I always have a game similar to Pin the Tail on the Donkey, this was the first party where we actually used the traditional game with a donkey!
Since donkeys are hilariously featured in Luisa’s “Surface Pressure” song, I made a simple little sign to connect the game to the movie.
“Pin the Tail on LUISA’S Donkey!”

- Have little ones take turns pulling the strings to see which one will…
We also used an Encanto pinata full of candy for the kids to whack in the backyard.
I like to fill mine with as much candy as possible so a little bit flies out with every hit. It seems like candy will fall out forever!
Pinatas are traditional for kids’ birthday parties in Colombia, too. So don’t skip this one, it fits the theme well.
Mirabel Cake
For the main Encanto birthday cake, Lily asked for a cake featuring one of the sisters.
After sifting through a bunch of Mirabel cake ideas on Pinterest, she decided on the Mirabel doll cake.
It was my first time ever getting to decorate a doll dress with frosting! I found it to be a pretty easy and simple Encanto cake.
I used the traditional Wilton doll dress cake pan to bake a chocolate cake.
After it cooled, I cut enough out of the middle for the Mirabel doll’s bottom half to fit inside.
Then I divided up homemade buttercream frosting to make lots of colors.
This Encanto cake design is based entirely on the hand-stitched details of Mirabel’s dress. I just referenced the dress I took off of the doll and put as much of its detail on the cake as I could fit!
You can easily apply this cake style to make an Isabela cake, Dolores cake, or even a Luisa cake using their respective dolls.
Bruno Encanto Cupcakes
In addition to Lily’s requested Mirabel cake (which wasn’t big enough to feed everyone), I made a bunch of Bruno-themed cupcakes!
I found this idea at Magical Adventure Guide and could not believe how easy it was to perfectly recreate the look of their cupcakes.
These Encanto-themed cupcakes feature the sands of time and shards of his glass visions from Bruno’s bedroom.
They are almost too easy. The frosting is simple green buttercream piped with the giant Wilton 2A tip, and the “sand” is plain brown sugar!
Making Vision Shards from Candy Glass
The green “glass” shards were the only remotely difficult part. Not only were they easier than expected to make, but they were also really fun!
First, prepare a cookie sheet with some parchment paper.
In a metal pot (I don’t recommend using nonstick for cooking candy), combine one cup of sugar, 6 tablespoons of water, 5 ½ tablespoons of light corn syrup, and a pinch of cream of tartar and cook over medium heat.
Make sure you’ve got a candy thermometer to clip on the side and use a whisk to constantly stir as it heats. You need it to reach 300 degrees, but you need to be very patient for it to get there!
As soon as it hits 300 degrees, quickly stir in some liquid green food coloring, then carefully pour the hot candy onto the parchment-lined baking sheet.
Make sure it spreads out as evenly as possible using a spatula or wooden spoon.
You’ll need to leave it alone for about two hours for it to completely harden. Then comes the FUN part!
To get the shards started quickly, I picked up my cookie sheet and dropped it about 18 inches to the floor. You should see the cracks start to form immediately!
Then put it back on the counter and press on the uncracked areas with the back of a spoon to break it into smaller pieces. It’s up to you how small the pieces get!
All that’s left to do is insert the candy shards into the cupcakes, pointy-ends down, of course.
If you do this several hours before the party, the areas touching the frosting will become soft and chewy. This was a bad thing, as it prevented the kids from cutting their tongues on any point bits.
Just don’t insert the shards a whole day before, as the entire shard could start to droop before the party.
I got my cupcake stand from Amazon and have used it many times.
Encanto Party Favors
While Party City had an abundance of Encanto birthday party favors, they were the usual junk – temporary tattoos and cheap plastic toys.
We don’t have a ton of guests at our birthday parties (around 20 adults and 6 kids). So I decided to DIY my party favors!
Each child attending got their own personalized “door” on a gift box with a toy inside matching their “gift.”
The adults got to take home these “Not Special” Special baskets full of goodies! (They held more goodies for their kids to enjoy, too.)
These baskets are a great Encanto party favor idea for both children and adults.
